About Me
Teaching
has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy inspiring others
and helping them learn about themselves and the world. Being
a teacher I can inspire my students to achieve many great things!
There are many qualities that go with a great inspiring teacher.
A teacher must be enthusiastic about what they are teaching, needs
to have a sense of humor, be respectful, caring, and knowledgeable
of many teaching strategies, The qualities of a great teacher include
many more traits. I believe I have gained most of these qualities
through my experiences.
I have been in many schools and settings with children. Through
my field experiences I have enhanced my education. As a daycare
teacher, I was able to watch children grow; here I also learned
many classroom management strategies. Since I have started
at Creighton University I have been a tutor at three after school
programs: Sacred Heart Elementary, Creative Education Center, and
the Boys and Girls Club. At these places I was able to assist
in many students learning. It is always a wonderful
feeling when a student finally understands what they have been struggling
with for a while. I also became a mentor and role model to these
students. I also strongly believe that students learn outside
of school settings, I observed this while I was a camp counselor
at Camp Inventions. Here I lead camp activities and assisted
with experiments. Students not only learned about science
but also learned social skills. I have also worked and volunteered
at many other different places where I had a chance to improve my
teaching.
I value education. Through the years I have worked hard at
school. I have been honored at Creighton by being on the Deans
List for most of my semesters. I was also on the National
Deans List. Kappa Delta Pi has noticed my achievements
as a leader and requested that I joined a semester earlier than
others. Leadership is important to me; I hope that my leadership
can also inspire others to do great things. At Creighton I
was the President-Elect and Vice-President of Students Education
Association of Nebraska (SEAN), Historian of Kappa Delta Pi. I was
a Resident Advisor where my job was to mentor younger college students
and teach them life skills to further their maturing process.
I hope my attitude about education can be passed down through my
teaching.
Culture has always sparked an interest for me. I love learning
about other cultures. Photography is also very important to me.
This is one way I am able to express myself artistically.
Technology has also been another passion of mine. Ever since
I was in middle school I have been building websites and experimenting
with computer programs. At Dundee Elementary, I was able to
utilize a lot of technology, photography, and knowledge of other
cultures. But through all of my passions I am always teaching,
always inspiring.
